Khevsureti is the rough neighbour of Tusheti. The villages were built as forts. Shatili is a wall of stone houses. Mutso hangs on a cliff.

We ride the tracks between them. One line crosses from the Tusheti side at Atsunta Pass, 3,431 metres, then drops to the fortress villages.
This is a confident rider's week. The days are long and the pass is the point.
